Alastair started his career in the early 2000s as a Software Consultant for Sage, a FTSE 100 business before transitioning to Executive Search with an LSE (AIM) listed, global recruitment services provider in 2004 where he focused on IT and Digital executive positions in the UK and Europe.
In 2011, Alastair migrated to Melbourne with his young family and continues to focus on Senior IT & Digital Management, CIO, CTO and NED assignments. He provides specialised search and selection to a broad range of International and Australian organisations across multiple industries including Banking & Financial Services, Software Vendors, Consultancies, Healthcare, Government, Manufacturing, Industrial, Utilities, Telecoms, Pharma, Retail, Education, Marketing, Start-Ups and most things in-between.
Alastair prides himself on his hands-on industry knowledge and extensive network, the combination of which gives him a unique ability to identify the right person for the right business, in the right role. He has developed deep respect within the community, has a far-reaching network and an in-depth understanding and appreciation of the increasing influence that Digital and Information Technology professionals have in transforming businesses to be truly customer focused and successful.
Outside of Alex Kaar, Alastair is a father to two daughters, a follower of Soccer and AFL and tries to spend as much time, ironically disconnected from technology, in the Mornington Peninsula.
Alastair possesses a Bachelor of Science in Multimedia Development & Production and a Postgraduate Diploma in IT with an Oracle specialisation.
